This is said when something is still being done or completed. The term “game” can refer to a person’s lifespan, or a particular job like building a house.

  1. When I first started working at the company, I thought it was great! But at this stage of the game, I’m starting to hate working here because of all the overtime I’m forced to work.

  2. Father: I think I want to divorce your mother.
    Daughter: A divorce?! But dad, you’re 95 years old! You have been married to mom for 75 years! At this stage of the game, why do you want to get a divorce?!


  3. Mother: I do *not* want you wearing that dress! It’s too sexy!
    Daughter: But mom, I got this dress from *your* closet!Mother: That doesn’t matter, at this stage of the game, you are too young to be wearing a dress like that!
